New airstrike killed At least 10 al-shabab militants in Somalia, US military said

Somalia Ordered UN Especial Envoy Nockolas Haysom to leave

Mogadishu- Somali government has ordered the top United Nations   top envoy in the country to leave, accusing him of interfering with national sovereignty. The foreign affairs ministry said on Tuesday that Nicholas Haysom, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, "is not required and cannot work in this country", referring him as 'persona non grata'. Haysom, UN's Especial Envoy for Somalia, who was accused for local issues interference by the SFG in Mogadishu sent a letter on December 30 to the Ministry of Internal security, regarding "the alleged involvement of UN-supported Somali security forces in the arrest of Mukhtar Robow on 13 December, the deaths of 15 civilians...on 13, 14, and 15 December...and the arrest of approximately 300 people involved in the demonstrations from 13-15 December last year. Somalia: Puntland's New 66 MPs were sworn in

File: {Putland new 66 Mps performing the sworn in ceremony in Garoowe .} Garowe- Puntland's new 66 MPs were sworn in Tuesday morning in  Garowe, the capital, picked the oldest Hussein Yasin Hajji as the house's interim speaker. The new 66-seat MPs were announced late Monday afternoon, 70% are youths & new, the rest remain the old one's, while only one female member shown in the list. The released list of MPs  will elect the region's new president on the 8th of January 2019, who will be in office for the next 5 years. Over 20 presidential aspirants showed up who are vying for the presidency including the incumbent president, Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas. Puntland is situated on the Gulf of Aden, near the entrance to the Red Sea, and Suez Canal making it one of the busiest shipping channels.

Ethiopia allows access to over 260 blocked websites, CPJ said

File: Ethiopia PM Abiy Ahmed With Oramia Traditional leaders New York- The Committee to Protect Journalists today welcomed the Ethiopian government's decision to allow access to 264 websites, including news outlets and blogs, that were blocked in the country. In a  tweet today , Fitsum Arega, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's chief of staff, said that the sites included the diaspora outlets Oromia Media Network (OMN) and Ethiopian Satellite Television and Radio (ESAT). Belay Manaye, a journalist in Addis Ababa, confirmed to CPJ that the outlets were accessible in Ethiopia. "Allowing Ethiopians to access these news outlets is a positive sign that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is committed to delivering his promise to end Ethiopia's censorship of the independent press," said CPJ Africa Program Coordinator Angela Quintal. Somalia's Parliament approved the country's 2019 budget

File: Somali Lower House Mps Mogadishu- The Lower House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has approved a $340 million budget for the financial year 2019 anonymously .  The Lower house members voted collectively for the 2019 Financial budget in majority voting of 174 out of 275 of the overall members of the national assembly  submitted by the Ministry of the Finance. During the session, all 174 lawmakers endorsed the budget and no one has rejected or obtained from the voting. The cabinet has last October approved a $340 million budget for the financial year 2019, the largest in recent years tripling the 2013 budget which stood at $114 million. The budget which is also an increase of $70 million from last years $274 will see its financing drawn from the domestic market, international donors and governments. Somalia has been the most corrupt country on the planet for the last two decades, according to the International Financial Institutions.

Two Puntland soldiers killed in Bosaso, Somalia

Bosaso- Two Puntland soldiers were shot dead by gunmen in Bosaso on Friday evening, a security official said.  One soldier was also wounded in the attack, the official, who requested anonymity, told Puntland Mirror.  The gunmen run away the scene after the shooting, the official added. No group has immediately claimed the responsibility for the attack, but terrorist militants like Al-Shabab and ISIS carries out frequent attacks in the port town of Bosaso. Recently, ISIS & al-shabab fighters fought an area close to Galgala hills, Bari region, in which both sides claimed to have killed dozens from the other side.  Source: Puntland Mirror Web .

Puntland's Incumbent President Announced He Is Running for Re-election

Puntland's incumbent president: Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas, the incumbent President of Puntland state of Somalia, announced within this month, that he would run again for Presidential election. Abdiweli made his announcement in a ceremony held in Garowe ,where more dignitaries including traditional leaders and his government officials also attended. In the ceremony, he delivered a long speech he focused on his performances during the five-year office. More than 20 candidates including ex-officials and neophytes are opposing the incumbent president. Puntland presidential election will take place on January 8, 2019, as planned.  He remarked, that during his 5 years term made a tremendous achievements on areas include, infrastructures, and sustaining peace and stability, and nurturing Somalia's Federalism model.
